Crop planning

Regardless of whether you only have a few beds or a large gardening area, you will benefit from spending time to plan your growing season well before it starts. To ensure that you get exactly the seeds you want, you should be out in good time. I make my crop plan in the fall and order my seeds online before Christmas. Once the growing season has started it can be a little stressful and it is extremely nice to have a weekly plan that lists which seeds to sow, plant outside or harvest week by week.

Growveg.co.uk has some tips of how to plan your growing season. They also have a beautiful planning tool. I have tried this, but it didn't suit me.

Here is another article on crop planning:

If you only have a couple of beds, you do not need advanced planning tools. But if you have a larger garden you can get a lot of help from structuring your planning with the help of eg. an Excel program. Our program is inspired by Ridgedale Farm's planning tool. Without it, it would be very difficult to keep on top of our tasks during the growing season.

Click on the icon on the left to download our planning program and user instructions. If you have a larger cultivation and are used to using Excel, it may be worth trying. Even for those who have a small cultivation and do not want to use the program, it is worth looking at the content, as you can get a valuable overview of, for example. which sowing trays are recommended for different seeds, how many days each type of seed should be in the trays, plant and row spacing in the beds etc..
